Policy 13 -- Affordable Housing

Purpose:  To consider the requirements applicable to affordable housing schemes and locational factors, should proposals come forward for such a scheme.

Any development providing Affordable Housing must contain an acceptable mix of housing for:

  • Social Rent
  • Affordable Rent
  • Shared Ownership and
  • Standard ownership.

The exact proportion shall be agreed at the time of the planning application to reflect the current assessment of housing need. It may also be appropriate for the mix to include housing designed or suitable for people with disabilities or more elderly people.

Any affordable housing should be located within the Village Development Boundary.

The scale and design standard of the scheme must retain or enhance the character and setting of the village, and the natural beauty and special qualities of the National Landscape.
