The Suffolk Coastal Local Plan covers the former Suffolk Coastal District area. The plan sets out how the area should be developed, and is the starting point when making decisions on planning applications within that part of the District.

Development is also guided by the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) which is supplemented by the Planning Practice Guidance.
