Policy 2 -- Overall Form and Pattern of Settlement

Purpose: To acknowledge and offer protection to the features which define the geographical form and extent of the village.

 

Policy:  New development will take the form of limited infill within the Village Development Boundary. It should follow the distinctive grain and pattern of settlement which is arranged with a predominantly linear pattern of buildings facing the roads.  It should also maintain the features that contribute to the characteristic form of Walberswick including:

a clearly defined boundary with the countryside,

the open spaces in the central part of the village and

the far-reaching views towards and from the margins.
