The Coast Guard has been in position on the beach for the last 48 hours, keeping watch for 'ship shells', washed up from a dumping ground off the coast. Due to the rough seas a couple were spotted on the beach yesterday but have since been washed out again and there have been further sightings near Aldeburgh. This morning Coast Guard Jim asked for everyone to be aware that there will be no access to the beach from the campsite going South, so please do not attempt to cross Spong Bridge either. With high tides and strong winds forecast today and into the New Year there may be controlled explosions as the shells cannot be difused and must be detonated. The Navy will be joining the operation today, for further information please check with the Coast Guard.
