More about the artist
Careers in graphic and garden design have led to an obvious bias in Helen Riches work. The imposing of order and structure on nature has always been a fascination and can be seen in her paintings… geraniums in a yellow box perhaps, or a cluster of crofts on a Hebridean hillside. Helen is a committed, full time artist now, working in oils in the studio or outdoors with her easel, though there is also a daily conscience tussle while the lure of taming her coastal garden also pulls.
She was born in Belfast and has spent a lot of her life in East Anglia, although travel with a sketch book has always been ‘a thing'. She has a husband, two children, all, rather predictably, involved in some way or other with the arts.
