Policy 19 -- Touring and Permanent Holiday Accommodation

Purpose:  In order to protect the village and the surrounding sensitive environments from visually disruptive, prominent and potentially damaging visitor generating over-development.

Policy: Proposals for new holiday accommodation units or sites (such as lodges, caravan or campsites), or intensification or extension of existing uses incorporating static or semi-permanent or permanent structures, including associated facilities, will not be permitted.

The Parish Council will press the Local Planning Authority to prepare an Article 4 Direction to prevent temporary campsites.

Proposals for the adaptation of sites to mitigate flood risk will be supported if they are:

  • consistent with the Shoreline Management Plan
  • to the highest standards of design, and would not result in visually prominent structures
  • respect the National Landscape setting and comply with designated sites requirements (HRA etc).
