Lionlink - changes to proposals
Lionlink (LL) unexpectedly announced on 1 July that they were proposing some "localised" changes to their development proposal. Most immediately, in Walberswick, they are giving up on their G2 location in Manor Field and proposing a new G3 site — going slightly west to the fields on the other side of Stocks Lane but still very much in the village and very close to houses. We won't know the full details until these are shared on 7 July at what will be the start of another 28 day statutory consultation. We understand NGV will be posting the updated plans to residents as they have done before and putting details online.
WPC has arranged for key members of the LL team to meet with us in a special meeting on 15 July. We will use this meeting to get a short presentation from them on the details of these new proposals and to ask specific questions on the details of their project which have not been forthcoming through the earlier consultations. More details on this meeting will be shared next week.
Overall, these changes from LL demonstrate what we have been saying from the start — That they have never located a viable landing site in Suffolk and the fact that they are now on their 3rd option in Walberswick proves that it makes no sense to locate it here. The sensible choice, if LL is to happen, is for them to use a brown field site, like Isle of Grain, near to where the extra power is needed.
